While it's perfectly fine to say you have some sort of pet, be it a cat or horse or whatnot, when it comes to having extraordinary pets or mounts, such as a flying fire-breathing demon pig or even something like a Pegasus or wyvern, there have to be some restrictions. Of course, since it’s a lot easier to obtain and train, say, a two headed cat than it to do the same with, say, a dragon, there is a difference in requirements for each.
Any sort of magical animal that would be used simply as a pet, companion, or familiar (something about the size of a cat or dog) costs 375G.
Any magical pet that would be large or powerful enough to be used as a personal mount, (such as a dragon or Pegasus) would cost 1,500G and require you to have passed your test.
