Gold on this site is essentially a special feature that allows you to better customize your character and give them more "flavor", so to speak.
The basic means of gaining gold is by posting around the boards, where you will recieve 15 gold per post, (excluding certain out of character boards).
In the following threads on this board contain different options for what you may purchase with your accumulated gold. For the most part, this will require personal messaging and admin to make your request and fulfill your purchase, although in some cases there are a few more pre-requisites, such as getting other members to pitch in and pledge support.
Many items, as you will find, state a requirement for you to have been “tested”. To do this, you need at least two hundred posts for your account. Then you must provide at least five in-character threads of decent length that you feel express your best skills in role-playing. Bear in mind that this is a test of both in-character and out-of-character skill; checking creativity, proper use of English and to make certain you aren't vastly overpowering yourself. Also remember that length of each individual post means nothing if that same post lacks content, for even a single sentence can suffice in certain situations. On that same note; with the threads to be provided, "decent length" does not refer to the individual posts, it refers to the thread itself. After all, if you only post once or twice and use that to request an advancement, it will be disregarded for consideration. As a general rule of thumb, try to provide threads that at least make it to a second page.
Finally, most options will also require the individual player to have a character profile in order to make their purchase, as that is where many of the options will be displayed
