Redem walked into the market place, the day is a cloudy day, and Redem is wearing his hat, which is a rarity in this weather. He walked over to the fish market and starts examining the fish, walking by the bait and pocketing some. He then walked over to the fruit vendor, tips his hat back a tad, just enough so you could see his grim smile. With the greatest of ease he bent down and smells the ripeness of the fruit and flicks a gold piece at the vendor and buys a few strawberries and ate them there. "MMMPMMM DEESH ARE TE-LISCH US" said Redem with a full mouth. The vendor was starting to become concerned because Redem always uses mannerisms and never spoke with his mouth full "Are you alright today Redem? You seem off today" asked the vendor with a concerned look "Oh nothing is wrong my good sir, they were just so sweet that i forgot my manners. You must tell me your secret to growing them so sweet, so i can make some for my master." Redem said to the old vendor while he was pocketing some more for the road.
"OH NO YOU DON'T MISTER" said a voice from afar, a knight appeared on the scene. "Put those berries back and come with me, your under arrest for stealing!" exclaimed the knight. "Now then I must ask what gives you that authority now Mister Knight?" asked Redem, who has now taken off his hat. "Well if you must know boy, i am the sheriff around here and i don't take kindly to thieves!" exclaimed the sheriff as he putRedem in an arm lock, disabling his right arm, which is also his sword arm.

OOC: ((OW. that was a painful read, you need some work XD)) and to all readers and other people who might be angry: we did not know if there was an actual sheriff or not, so we decided to just make him an NPC. if we are wrong, please correct us.))
IC: The Sheriff proceeded to drag the boy away, unaware that he was being watched. In the corner of the marketplace, face contorted into a scowl, Shadow had been watching his apprentice's actions the entire time. And he wasn't too pleased.
Granted, Shadow had told Redem to go out and wander the marketplace on his own, giving him an amount of money that would have only bought him a small amount of berries from the fruit vendor. purposefully, Shadow had not allowed Redem breakfast, and now that it was nearing mid-day, the younger man must have been getting very hungry. Naturally, Shadow had expected him to steal from the vendors, which Redem did, but Redem had forgotten one very important thing; not to get caught. For a few moments, Shadow considered letting the Sheriff just drag Redem to jail and lock him up. However, that would look bad for Shadow when either Redem tried to brake out or when Shadow came and got him.
Shadow detached himself from the wall, and in a few fluid movements, made his way through the bustling crowd and stood in front of the Sheriff. "Honorable Sheriff of Avaren, please put my apprentice down."
The Sheriff laughed and looked quickly at Shadow. "An who do you think you are to order me around?" As he said this, the Sheriff adjusted his burly grip on Redem and tried to push past Shadow.
Shadow glared at the Sheriff in return and didn't move. "you happen to be talking to the Guildmaster of the Nightwalkers. That man is my charge, not yours, and therefore you need to let him go before i give you the punishment i intended for him. In fact I was-"
The Sheriff arrogantly looked at Shadow as he cut him off. "You think you're so high and mighty, Mr. Guildmaster. Well, let's just say-" he too was cut off, as Shadow was now holding a dagger to his throat. "I wasn't finished. Before, i was angry at my idiot of an apprentice. Now, that anger is focusing on you. There's a reason, Mr. Sheriff," Shadow said scornfully. "That I am the leader of that guild, and not a knight. I hold to different rules than you do."
The Sheriff swore and moved to do something, but Shadow simply pulled out another knife, holding this to the Sheriff's throat as well. "Let him go, and we'll be on our merry way. I can even give you a purse for your troubles. I don't like confrontations, Mr Sheriff."
The Sheriff Growled, but released Redem his grip on Redem. "You are obstructing the law, Nightwalker. In fact i have half a mind to call-"
Shadow put one of the knives back in his belt and pulled out a purse. "First of all, my name isn't Nightwalker." He lightly smacked the sheriff in the face with the purse, and the happy jingle of heavy coins accompanied the sound of it slapping the man's cheekbone. "and that is so my boy doesn't have a record."
The Sheriff looked longingly at the gold, and then back at Redem. "But the young man has to be punished, that's my duty."
Shadow glared at the man. "I have tried to drill into his head, for ten of the seventeen years I have known him, not to steal from good businessmen, only from the ones who are corrupt and villainous. " The sheriff looked at the ground thoughtfully as shadow continued. "Obviously, it hasn't fully sunk in yet. However, we must be parting ways now. So long, Sheriff. I will deal with this young man, and you shall never catch him again." the Sheriff nodded, still looking slightly confused, and left.
As the crowd shifted, Shadow picked Redem up. looking around, He whispered some words into the air. Moments later, the purse that the Sheriff had been given re-appeared in shadow's hands, and Shadow looked at Redem sternly.
"Young man, when we get out of here, You are getting a lecture. A long lecture. I should have let him drag you away, just to let the message sink in."
OOC:((holy crap it is huge... i can edit some of the Sheriff stuff out if you want))

OOC: dude that was awesome...I wouldn't have done anything but meeped and cried a little, as in cry like a yelp from when the sheriff tensed up and prolly pulled on my arm more
IC: "Sorry Master Shadow for the inconvenience to your busy day, but at least we have some bait to catch some fish from." Redem said with looks of sorrow in his eyes. "Before I go fishing, can we go to the guild headquarters and train with the swords? I need to find out what they do and what they have for power. Remember the day you found me, what did that note say with the sword and dagger anyway?” asked Redem with his child’s look on his face, meaning he wanted some answers now.
Shadow gave the boy a smirk then reached into his pocket and drew a piece of paper. He followed up by throwing this paper in the boy’s direction; the paper began to start falling short. Redem noticed that the paper would hit the ground, so he swiftly moved his right hand, then a gust of wind picked up the paper and blew it gently into his hands.
Redem unfolded the paper, which was unusually in pristine condition for a 10 year old note, and read aloud the note to add dramatic effect, even though no one was around. Dearest Shadow De Vaezai, I would kindly ask you to take care of my child Redemption Jirochi for me, Jirochi is a fake sir-name and his real sir-name is only to be known when both halves of the pendant are found. The reason we must leave the boy here is because not only are we poor, but we are also illegally here, we must ask you to also go to the cave a mile north of here and grab the sword and dagger hiding deep in the cave, these weapons will only work for him, due to the magic that runs in our bloodline. He is the last of his bloodline that we know of…please take care of the boy and keep him safe, he is destined to be great, maybe even a great hero. We do not care about how you train him, or when, just keep the blades away from him until he is 16, because his body will not be able to take the stress that the blades thirst for. Hide him in plain sight so that the ones after us will not find him, and teach him the ways of old. Hide in the shadows, Strike in broad daylight. We actually know that you would find him here Shadow. We saw you coming and knew to leave the boy here. We wiped his memory, so you would not be able to find us. Do not try looking for us either Shadow, the hunters will go after you again if you pursue us. Remember all you have to do is care for the boy and raise him correctly.
Signed, X
That readout was actually Redem’s first time reading the letter. He had known that he was orphaned off because his parents couldn’t afford themselves, but they were skilled enough to know who was coming and how the person acted. “Hey SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADOW…did you feel them there or leaving when you found me?” Questioned the youngling with an innocent face on.

It hadn't been the first time Redem read that letter. Shadow had read it to him countless times in the past, but today was a lazy day, and he tossed the letter over so the boy could see his parent's hand and read it for himself.
Patiently waiting, Shadow went over the contents of the letter in his head. He had memorized it easily, and after he analyzed it in every way possible, realized that it was merely that, a Letter. It told him nothing of the boys' parents, or where the family originally came from, it only told him to train the boy. So, he trained Redem relentlessly, day and night, for sixteen years. Upon the boy's sixteenth birthday, Shadow bestowed the dagger and sword upon the boy. The weapons almost immediately bonded with him, and almost destroyed the boy at the same time. Again, Shadow wondered. What manner of beings were they, and what does that make Redem? He stared distantly down the road, musing.
However, he was brought out of those musings by Redem's whining. The smirk on Shadow's face turned to a scowl as he snatched the parchment from the boy's hand. Irritated, Shadow looked around.
His expression changed again, as he saw something that intrigued him. Down the road a bit there was a certain commotion approaching, and Shadow's eyes gleamed while he spoke. "We should... go. Chao has alerted me to the newest member of the market... An old friend... and one who just happens to have company with him."
Shadow pointed down the street, where there were shouts and protests. The Sheriff had returned, not eager to allow such a prize as Shadow escape. Shadow pulled his cape over his shoulders, and became a blurry part of the environment. There was still a large crowd between them and the advancing Sheriff, but Shadow did not feel like breaking himself out of prison again. After all, all he did was insult the Sheriff, which isn't a crime.
Shadow turned to walk away from Redem, and as he walked away, he called out over his shoulder, "go the opposite way, and lose them in the slums. remember, Use all your skill. I am going this way, so if you get caught, i will not be able to help you. Do not use your weapons, do not steal anything else, and most importantly, do not use your magic. Blend in with the crowd. I'll send Chao to check on you in a little while. Meet me at the ruins, Got it?"
Moments later, Shadow began to merge with the crowd, not looking back at Redem. The boy was on his own, for the most part...
((keep the RP here until we have 'successfully lost them,' then we can go to the ruins, k?))

Redem also had noticed the slight raise in volume from the crowd. He listened to his master’s orders and nodded. “The slums will be the easiest place to lose them, that’s where I trained stealth and hiding techniques.” Redem said knowing that it was the simple lowly leveled knights and the Sheriff. Redem did not realize that Shadow was already leaving and was talking to himself, while the mob was only about 100 feet away from the clearing he was currently standing in the middle of. His long white hair now starting to flow in the air while he started to run towards the slums, the screams got louder, the mob had spotted him. “Oh great, this will make it more fun, now they know where I am going.” Redem said to himself while thinking on which building to do his roof jump onto. A mysterious voice sounded in his head “…Do not use your magic.” The voice was that of Shadow. Suddenly the sounds of the mob had gotten clear as Redem focused; he started to hear the barking of the royal guard’s hounds.
Now trying to think of a new plan on his feet Redem reached into his pocket with some fish still in it and began to throw it in multiple directions to throw off the dogs. Knowing that the fish will only throw the Sheriff for a moment, Redem proceeds to crush some berries into the pocket that had the fish in it, causing an odor masque. Sensing that he has now let them catch a good 50 feet on him while he was making distractions Redem decided that it was a good time to hide out in the slums now.
The slums were the decrepit and old, there were only three people left who lived there, and they were all senile and old, similar to the slums itself. Most of the roofs of the slums had rotted out and caved in many houses, some would say that the looks of the broken houses look like a ramp to the roof of the next house. No one had ever tried to climb on a roof of a building here because of the chances it would cave in on them and cause serious damage to them. The only people who could navigate a roof in the slums would be anyone who rummages through for assorted goods and such. The best place to hide things is on the frame of the house, usually on the roof because of one small mistake the houses will usually fall over.
Redem luckily was smart enough to learn the layout of every single house in the slums and the framework of the houses, due to Redem's training in the slums with Shadow. He began to run up the raped roof and stopped for only a moment to figure out what people were saying. “Where the hell could he have gone? I am the third ranked tracker in the land and I cannot track this simple kid” Said the second mysterious voice. “Good, they fell for my little traps now to set up the final one” exclaimed Redem under his breath.
Redem ran off and started to pile wood in specific places on, in, and around certain houses he had already raided in his childhood, when he would have a break from simple protection training with Shadow after Redem was first found by Shadow. A few moments later he heard the tracker yell something about the dogs catching a new scent. He grabbed some large sized rocks off of the ground and set some on, and some under the pieces of wood to make strategically placed catapults. The wind suddenly died in the slums while the last stone was placed. The crowd now just realized that Redem was no longer in the forest and proceeded to look at the slums following his dieing trace of scent. Redem hears them enter then brought one large sized rock up to the top of the highest building so he had the upper ground.
o.o.c. Well that as far as i am going for now...i will post one from the townsfolks point of view. up to where i got to...then i will finish his..Oh, why that does indeed tickle my fancy! the hounds with the smells totally didn't use mythbusters info or anything...
